What can we say that hasn’t most likely been stated already except that Cathy and Frank are such delightful and amiable hosts and spirits. Our stay included a brief threat of thundershowers which meant cutting the hay and storing it. My husband and brother were thrilled with reliving their youths on their farm. Merci, Merci! Welcome to the Chateau de Chazelles in the Haute Loire, the beautiful south of the Auvergne in France. We look forward to introducing you to this unspoilt and untouristy region of France. Our comfortable bedrooms and suites, all have ensuite bathrooms, and together with our warm welcome and friendly atmosphere, we are sure you will have an enjoyable time with us here in Chazelles.

The chateau is situated in stunning countryside 800 metres up (over 2788 feet) in the the Haute Loire in the massif centrale, with a surprising variety of landscapes: upland pasture, forests and rocky gorges. It is an ideal place to discover the nearby towns of Craponne (10 minutes by car) La Chaise Dieu (25m) and the UNESCO world heritage site of Le Puy en Velay (40 minutes), the historic centre of the Haute Loire and a starting post for the St Jacques de Compostelle pilgrimage route. We are just over an hour from Lyon.

Many people come and stay with us for a few days while they are travelling to and from Italy, Spain, Switzerland or the South of France from the UK or Paris. They find it an enjoyable and enriching experience instead of just travelling up and down the motorways to visit one of France’s most scenic and unspoilt regions.
