Madame de La Fayette is on the first floor of the chateau. It is triple aspect with views over the courtyard, the pigeonniere and fountain and over the walled garden, which in turn looks down upon a lovely auvergne landscape reaching down towards the loire valley.
The room has been recently refurbished with underfloor heating and double glazing. The large bathroom has a walk-in shower, double basins, and a roll-top bath. It has one four poster bed 160X200 and a sofa bed. It is decorated in beautiful blue toile de jouy on the walls and curtains, and is a romantic, restful room.
On the second floor we have two suites, also recently refurbished, made up of two rooms each and a bathroom.
Pascale has its own entrance door to a corridor which has doors to the two bedrooms, bathroom and separate WC. The large room has a four poster bed 140×190 and a sofabed. The second bedroom has two single beds. The bathroom has an old roll top bath, and separate shower.
St Jacques de Compostella is composed of a bedroom with four poster bed and a separate sitting room, an ensuite bathroom with roll top bath and separate large shower.
Because we have both traveled a lot we also haven’t forgotten those little extras which make so much difference to a stay – first and foremost a decent bed, but also other things like large bath towels and quality toiletries in the bathroom, and tea and coffee making facilities, fruit bowls and flowers in the rooms. We’ve also made sure the rooms have books and local information.
Guests also have their own sitting room on the ground floor, with access to the large walled garden and two balconies. WIfi access is free. A laptop is available to guests.
For younger children we are happy to heat up and make up small meals in the kitchen. We have high chairs and cots available. The walled garden provides an enclosed environment for play. We have a TV/DVD room with lots of toys and books in several languages. We find they often prefer to eat earlier in the evening before settling down in this room, leaving their parents to enjoy a quiet dinner in the dining room (across the hallway so easy to pop in to check on them if needed).
Breakfast is served until 11am (after all you are on holiday!) and you can choose to have it in your room or in the dining room or, weather permitting, on the terrace. We offer a choice of continental or English breakfast, with quality fresh ingredients including delicious eggs from our own hens.
